
Dr. Sandeep Pattnaik is presently an associate professor at the School of Earth, Ocean, and Climate Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. His research interests encompass extreme weather and climate prediction, tropical cyclones, high-resolution modeling, renewable energy, cloud microphysics, boundary layer parameterization, and land surface processes. Dr. Pattnaik has developed state-of-the-art technology for heavy rainfall forecasting up to a lead time of three days at the district scale over the Indian region, utilizing a hybrid approach that incorporates artificial intelligence alongside high-resolution dynamical models. He has authored numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals, supervised a number of master's and Ph.D. students, and undertaken several research projects. He also actively contributes to outreach initiatives aimed at benefiting society in the realms of weather and climate.
