Sanjib Pohit is presently working as a Professor & Thematic Lead - CGE Modelling and Policy Analysis Research Vertical at NCAER. Earlier he has held research positions as Professor, Academy of Scientific and Innovation Research and Senior Principal Scientist (CSIR—National Institute of Science, Technology & Development Studies), Senior Fellow/Chief Economist (NCAER), and Senior Fellow (ICRIER. He was also a Visiting Scholar to University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA), Conference Board of Canada. He is also Council Member of Gerson Lehrman group.

His domain of research experience includes environmental policies, economic modelling in the area of trade and environment, logistics cost, science and technology policies, institutional economics, input-output models, FDI, informal trade,  and South Asian integration.

He has provided research support to the Government of India for negotiation with respect to the Copenhagen Summit and Paris Agreement/Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) submission, and joint study groups on bilateral preferential trade discussions with the European Union, and Chile.
